Lyric poetry titled ‘my life as a chef’jingles poetry rally.
Hi, this is my entry for jingles poetry rally.
.
Here is the video performance of the following poem
(Words written below)
.
.
My life as a chef.
.
If you tap me on the shoulder, smile and ask me if i’m ok.
Please don’t be offended when i snap and say GO AWAY.
I’m a chef who slaves away all day in the searing heat.
No time for you to ask “I’m hungry, what can i eat?”.
Under stress and torment of wishing i wasn’t there.
I question, why does life have to be so unfair?
My logic does not exist within these troubled seas.
Give me a way out of this life, i beg you please.
.
A beautiful dish, presented with my custom flair.
Who are we kidding here my friends?
I can’t summon the inspiration that is no longer there.
Do i want to go brain dead and flow down the river of mediocrity?
Do i want to end up tell my students off, backed up by nothing but hypocrisy?
Do i want to exist as a monster inside my unfulfilled body?
Or do i want to shine and fulfill my true born destiny?
I think we all know the answer to that one, don’t we?
.
.

If only more than 88 people would read this.
Posted by Artswebshow on May 30, 2010 at 9:45 am
I’m confused, how would you know how many people read this or is it just a rhetorical phrase?
thankyou though

There is this problem of food and shelter.
It must be dealt with.
There is this need to create.
It must be dealt with.
best wishes

It’s tough being an artist and working all day. It can drain the inspiration right out. Keep up your blog and spirits! Nicely done!

thankyou michele

That is an AWESOME honest poem! I have always thought chefs work ‘way ‘way too hard, and are underappreciated for their slaving away.
Hope the chef gets a nice vacation and comes back renewed and ready to find joy in his pots and pans.
Posted by Artswebshow on May 21, 2010 at 2:08 am
thankyou jannie.
.
Cheffie has no intention of ever coming back to pots and pans once he’s broke free. lol
I admit it, i 100 percent regret ever choosing this as a career.
It’s like prison.
.
lol, such a cheerful response

When one is an artist there is no choice. But we all need a day job. Your frustration and sense of humor shine through this– nicely done!

Are we born to do the job we choose? You look like a master crafter of lovely puddings! I know I work in sales because I couldn’t actually decide what I wanted to do. I’m not going to be stuck here for the rest of my life. THAT’s for sure! Brilliant post! Good luck with the form writing, should be fun!

The poem is the perfect truth of all you have been sharing these past months. I hope the process of preparing your art posts and walking your journey, so to speak, has brought you some pleasure in the “doing”. A chef who doesn’t wish to cook any longer is like “a fish out of water” as they say. I wish you the best, as you already know.
Posted by Artswebshow on May 19, 2010 at 10:48 pm
thanks.
The self doubt is gone now.
One way or another i will move on.
I finally see some real potential to break into the art world.
The biggest proof is in the fact that i was able to get the domain name artswebshow.com
